Resolution Evolution
Resolution Evolution
My final Capstone project for the Game Design program at Cambrian College.
Game Description:
Resolution Evolution is a 2D Endless Runner where the world grows as you do. You wake up alone in a barren, low-resolution landscape, guided only by the cryptic whispers of an unseen force. As you run, fight, and collect fragments of a mysterious substance, the environment begins to transform—textures sharpen, enemies evolve, and the very fabric of reality expands.
What is this substance? Why does the world shift as you consume it? And who—or what—is calling out to you?
With each level, you piece together the truth. The more you collect, the more you understand. Your journey isn’t just about survival—it’s about revelation. You are not merely a runner; you are a witness to the unfolding of creation itself.
Will you embrace your purpose, or will the universe remain incomplete?

I like the ascetic of the game, and it runs well, both the animations and mechanics are smooth, for Capstone I think this will be passable. for feedback I would have liked to be able to play a tutorial first to explain what I am trying to do, I spent some time avoiding the powerup that allows you to evolve thinking it was a hazard, even a short explanation in the main menu would help, also a hint to when the rotation is coming could make it less jarring, maybe auditory. I cant say much on the difficulty itself as I am bad at platformers. It is looking good though.
I really like this game! I feel like it's similar to the dinosaur loading screen game, except the evolutions make it really interesting and fun. I also like how challenging it is - the speed and height of the jump makes it feel more intense by keeping the pace fast. The only thing I would change is maybe make the little bug creatures a little more visible. Other than that, I love the idea and I think it's executed really well!

love this idea!! and its executed very well :3
I think this game is very cute
the jump is very intense
i had no issues playing it. although it is not clear that you need to collect the purple thing. I would also suggest maybe splitting 1 collectable to progress into a number of them, like collect 5 smaller orbs to continue?it would be more engaging to play than just focusing on dodging!

its a great game, however i suck at this type of game so i couldnt see the rest of the game, i find that the base sprites can be approved on but for what i saw its a decent game.
goated ass game, here is my thoughts:
the screen rotation is weird and i have no idea if its intentional or not, if it is i would give a slight hint to let the player know that its coming (if there already is one i have not seen it lol), like a screen shake or something. in the second evolution, the sign being the same colour as the ground also caught me off guard, i think im just bad at games. the music is a banger. other than that i dont know what else to say because i keep dying really early on lmao
